High Volume Multi-Line Fax Server

Problem

The customer, a paper products manufacturing concern, sells their products through schools fund raising programs.  These resellers produce highly seasonal results and submit 2000 faxed orders per day during the busy season.

The existing fax server was unable to handle the volume.  They were limited to 8 fax lines feeding four laser printers.  Hard copy of the faxed orders is required to use as shipping pull tickets, as well as the packing slip.

The resellers are not assured of having Internet access and fax medium is considered universally available.

Solution

The AdvanTec solution was to replace the existing fax server with a new Fax Server comprised of a Windows NT 4.0 server and BrookTrout fax cards.  These specialized fax cards provided 16 fax lines and with their on-board coprocessors required fewer server processor cycles.  The server therefore could serve as a print redirector through HP Jet Direct printer interfaces and Xilinx image accelerator cards to serve the needed capacity of hard copy throughput.
